** A little note about why we eat what we eat**
My recipes are mostly traditional meals made from scratch that you probably would have enjoyed around your grandmothers table. The flavors are simple and old fashioned, but equally delicious. Many are adapted from or are old family recipes and others just taste like old family recipes. We use organic when available and clean, real and pure ingredients, turning these timeless favorites into healthy choices for your family. It is nourishing comfort food that satisfies and fills your body, without the processed ingredients, making you feel more wholly fed.
We loosely follow our own more relaxed version of the dietary guidelines of the Wise Traditions principles, which can be found on www.westonaprice.com. We eat foods that come from local farm animals allowed to graze outdoors on pasture; and grains, legumes, fruits and vegetables raised without extra sprays. These nutrient dense versions of animal and plant foods, with healthy traditional fats like butter, lard, egg yolks and coconut oil are filled with more vitamins and minerals and no damaging additives, helping you fight off disease and of course, feel more wholly fed.
NOTE: A lot of these dishes were prepared with organic ingredients with very low amounts of added preservatives, flavorings and chemicals. When trying these recipes, please note that because of the different flavor profiles of ingredients such as beef and chicken stock, canned tomato products, mayonnaise, Worcestershire, etc., you may have to adjust seasonings. Specifically, conventional products may have a more salty profile so try adding less salt, accordingly. Alternatively, organic products may have less flavor, so again, adjust seasonings accordingly.
