Bacon Fat Filtered

Filtered Bacon Grease

I know… you probably think I’m crazy and not very heart healthy if I use bacon grease. Studies have shown that pasture raised, no soy, no added stuff meat has a lot of nutrients in the fat content. Heart disease is probably caused more by processed foods than by pure grass/pasture fed fat. We don’t eat it all of the time, but it sure tastes good when we do!

Ingredients and Supplies

  • leftover bacon grease
  • spouted glass dish or glass measuring cup
  • mesh strainer
  • paper towel
  • glass storage container

Directions

Place a mesh strainer on a measuring cup or bowl with a spout.

Place paper towel over mesh strainer and pour bacon grease into towel. If little pieces of bacon get through, re-strain the grease. Any residual can cause molding.

Pour purified grease into an airtight container and store in fridge for use as a cooking fat in place of oil for potatoes, brussel sprouts, green beans and anything that sounds good to you.
