Reese’s French Toast
This is a Pioneer Woman recipe. It seems fitting that we are at the ranch in an ice storm and making a Pioneer Woman recipe for breakfast. Reese made the batch this morning and took these pictures so I am going to name this Reese’s French toast in honor of her! She did a great job, don’t you think?! She is a great helper in the kitchen and with pictures and editing. This French toast is even delicious without syrup or powdered sugar, but of course my kids added both!
Ingredients
- 6-8 slices bread, we used a whole grain seed bread and it still tasted great
- 5 eggs
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons pure cane sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- butter, for frying
- optional: powdered sugar and maple syrup
Directions
Whisk together in bowl, the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla.
Dunk two pieces of bread in the liquid.
Heat a skillet, non-stick or cast iron, over low heat and then melt of small pad of butter. I used one small pad for each piece of toast.
Add a piece of toast to the melting butter. My pan fit two pieces at a time.
Cook on the first side for about 3-4 minutes or until it’s just golden brown.
Flip and cook on the other side for a couple minutes or until browned to your liking.
Remove from the pan and repeat with remaining pieces of bread. Re-mix the liquid before dunking each new piece or two of bread.
Serve warm with powdered sugar and maple syrup.
