Hi! I’m Michelle. I cook and bake from scratch often. As a busy wife, mom and self-taught home baker, I appreciate a reliable, from-scratch recipe that is made with clean and wholesome ingredients and that is delicious for both kids and adults. My recipes are prepared from-scratch and often use traditional techniques to maximize the health benefits. These nourishing meals feed your body well, leaving you feeling satisfied and healthy. Most importantly, it’s not the food I cook that truly and wholly feeds my body and soul, but it is Jesus, the One who freed my soul.
My recipe collection includes old family recipes and new recipes that I’ve adapted. Traditional food is often considered unhealthy, but when prepared from-scratch, with ancient and traditional techniques, and with organic and clean ingredients, it can be nutritious and healing to the body. These traditional techniques include sourdough baking, vegetable fermentation, and soaking and sprouting of grains and legumes. We also use ingredients that are organic, grass-fed or pasture-raised, and that do not have any additives, dyes or preservatives. We use natural and organic oils and fats like olive oil and lard and we eat lots of organic, raw, full-fat, grass-fed butter, milk and cheese. I use these traditional techniques and clean ingredients to help manage my family’s auto-immune symptoms and various health challenges, and for the maximum health benefit, but conventional ingredients work in my recipes as well. I try to link to my favorite ingredients in my recipes, but don’t let that stop you from using your favorite ingredients in place of mine. We love to eat this way because we can enjoy the foods we love and still feel great. I encourage you to look into www.westonaprice.com because eating mostly according to their ideals has improved the health and well-being of my family tremendously. Welcome to my blog where I hope you’ll find meals that help you feel more wholly fed!

A Few More Things About Me…
Although I love a good from scratch recipe, no foods are off limits in my home because balance is good for the soul.
I am blessed to be a wife and mom to my favorite people in the world.
I’m part country and part country club. I live in two places, but I’m the same person wherever I go, although I may dress a bit different depending on where I am.
I’ve traveled around the world (literally), but I’m happiest in a small, simple town with a sunset over my pasture and my people by my side.
I live in the south, but spend a lot of time in the mountains with family too. I love where I live,
but I miss my family and friends who live in cities and towns across the country.
I’m almost always in workout clothes while dreaming of cowgirl boots.
I like to grow, cook and eat delicious wholly prepared foods. I often try new ways to live more naturally, but I fail a lot! (Insert loving eye roll from husband and children as to why I don’t just go buy these things).
I exercise and do yoga because I have to, but I actually love a comfy couch and a good movie with my family.
I’m always imagining a more ranch-like life for my family with our dogs Claire and Cheyenne, our horse Trigger, our cows, our garden, and of course any animals we add to the crew.
I’m a University of Colorado grad with a major in marketing and international business.
After many years of struggling with what to eat and how much to eat, I have finally figured out how to feed my body well. I may not look like a runway model, but I finally feel good about myself and what I put in my body. However, again, it’s not the food I cook that truly and wholly feeds my soul, but it is Jesus, the One who freed my soul. I hope to add some devotionals to this blog someday to encourage others in the same way the Lord has encouraged me.
At the age of 40ish, I’ve stopped rearranging my furniture while my husband is at work, but I’ll probably re-arrange this blog a time or two before it’s all said and done so I hope you enjoy and keep coming back!
