A slow, quiet morning

Today, I have a rare opportunity for a slow, quiet Saturday morning. We are out of coffee pods so I brewed some slow drip coffee in my Chemex. Normally, the longer process would frustrate me, but this morning I had the time and a view of a blue, sunny sky over the pasture. The coffee and the view turned out perfect.

I even had the chance to get in some quiet time in my Bible. My favorite place to enjoy my Bible time is on the floor in my living room in some yogi stretch. Weird, right?! Where is yours?

Jeremiah is the book I am going through – God reminded me this morning that our genealogy, our history, is important in our everyday life. Our past shapes our future. God knew us before we were formed and He has a calling for each of us. Once He reveals what that calling is, we can’t be afraid, we can’t doubt and we can’t worry about what others think. We have to believe that we are enough to do His will because He designed us for our unique calling. When God is on our side, he promises to be a fortress of security and an iron pillar of strength and dignity. He doesn’t promise that life will be perfect, but He does promise to be a place of refuge for us in all times.
